“I’ve got a lot of gritty model projects coming out,” Nico says. It’s true: This fall, the 21-year-old stars on the new CW series The Beautiful Life—a glimpse into the world of the picture-perfect. The Chicago native, who started doing professional theater in seventh grade, is the only one on the show with runway experience: After swinging by an open call in L.A. in 2007, Nico was offered a contract with Ford Models on the spot. Also on tap is Nick McDonell’s Twelve, a film about wealthy, drug-addicted NYC teens. Nico plays “model/ womanizer” Tobias alongside fellow CW-er Chace Crawford and Emma Roberts. “I’m going to have to do some scary Hannibal Lecter role next to avoid getting typecast as a pretty boy,” he says with a smile.—L.T.
